Oney attended a 5-day workshop on Chironomidae identification hosted by Watershed Assessment Associates (WAA) in Schenectady, New York.

Robert C. Oney recently attended a 5-day workshop on Chironomidae identification hosted by Watershed Assessment Associates (WAA) located in Schenectady, New York.  The week long technical training was taught by Kelly Nolan WAA’s Senior Aquatic Taxonomist and NABS certified Chironomidae expert.  Robert received instruction on Chironomidae morphology, mounting techniques, and various related dichotomous keys. He gained knowledge on key identification features (morphology) for all subfamilies and numerous genera each day.  Robert attended both lecture and lab work with emphasis on lab, utilizing dissecting microscopes to prepare slide mounted specimens, with compound microscopes and dichotomous keys to accurately and systematically identify Chironomid larvae to genus/species level.
