Cumulative Impacts Analysis

« Go Back

In March of 2011, Aquatic Resources was asked to develop a Cumulative Impacts Analysis (CIA). This analysis examined two large HUC 12 watersheds in Henderson County. The intention of this comprehensive study was to study the past, present & reasonably foreseeable future impacts on the aquatic environment. The study encompassed over 30 macroinvertebrate and fish locations as well as water monitoring to ascertain the current conditions of said environment. By including image analysis of landuses, the types of impacts to the aquatic environment could be evaluated by specific landuse. Aquatic Resources then compared reference reach locations to the existing communities by utilizing multivariate statistical techniques. These techniques reveal the type of impacts that are continuing to contribute to the current condition of the aquatic environment as well as determine the restoration that will be most successful.
